On-chain Signal: Exchange Outflows Accelerating
Something interesting in the on-chain data this week.
BTC exchange reserves just hit a new cycle low. Over the past 30 days, net outflows from all tracked exchanges total approximately 45,000 BTC. That's roughly $4.3B at current prices.
Breaking it down:
- Coinbase: -18,000 BTC (institutional custody moves)
- Binance: -12,000 BTC
- Kraken: -8,000 BTC
- Others: -7,000 BTC
The Coinbase premium is also back to positive territory after being negative for most of January. This suggests US institutional demand is picking up again.
Meanwhile, long-term holder supply (coins unmoved for 155+ days) is at an all-time high of 14.8M BTC. These holders went through the bear market and are not selling at 97k. They're waiting for much higher prices or they're simply lost coins.
What does this mean? Supply is getting tighter. When demand picks up (ETF inflows, retail FOMO, whatever the catalyst), the price discovery will be violent because there simply aren't that many coins available for sale.
Not a crystal ball, just data.
